Verizon Wireless has confirmed that one of their original DROIDS—the HTC Eris—will
not be receiving the Android update to 2.2, better known as Froyo. No reason was given by a company spokeswoman other than saying "there were other options."

Verizon, today, announced that they will be deploying LTE in select metropolitan areas by the end of 2010. The cities correspond with the 30 markets of the NFL--this makes sense given Verizon's recent relationship with the National Football League.

The Financial Times is reporting that Verizon and Motorola are teaming up to create a 10" portable tablet that is heavily geared towards TV. Reportedly, the device will be running Android OS 2.2 or higher and will have multiple cameras intended for various functions. Integration of the tablet's television functionality and Google TV is also expected.

Engadget is reporting that Verizon's Motorola DROID will be receiving an update to Android 2.2 (Froyo) as early as next week. As with similar OS upgrades, Froyo should be pushed out to Verizon customers in a tiered fashion--generally around 200,000 customer per day. Keep your eyes and ears open.

Engadget has reported that Verizon Wireless will be offering a low-end Android phone in the coming weeks. The device will be manufactured by Motorola and is said to be "the anti-Droid X." Google has just announced that performing a Google search on any Android device will bring back a listing of relevant Android applications. The results will be listed at the top of the page and will have a brief description of the app along with pricing info. Clicking on the link will forward you straight to the Android Market where you can read a more in-depth description of the app and choose to purchase it or pass.

Motorola's next Android-powered handset, and possibly the successor to the original Droid, has been spotted in the wild. An employee at a Verizon corporate gym reportedly found a Motorola Droid Shadow that had been left behind by a careless Verizon employee.
The new Droid Shadow is said to have an 8MP camera (capable of HD video recording), 4.3-inch screen and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
